Can You Respray Terracotta Tiles?

Yes you can respray terracotta roof tiles, BUT be prepared, as it will flake and peel off! It will only adhere to the tile for a small period of time and will require continuous maintenance. We do not recommend to respray a terracotta roof. When a terracotta tile is manufactured, the glaze is baked into the tile when it is fired in the kilns at over 1000 degrees. This is why the colour will never fade and the ability to recolour successfully without maintenance is impossible. One of the biggest mistakes that some home owners will make when going through the renovation process is not researching the pros and cons of a “respray”.   A respray should only be chosen for the aesthetics, as you can not alter the integrity of the tile with a respray.
